“National Golf Day Sponsored by Nike Golf. The event is on June 26th nationwide and is from 10am – 6pm. BUT from 4:30-6pm Facebook fans are invited to attend and will be eligible to get a free sleeve of nike one vapor golf balls, special discounts and a Guess your drive contest. There will be a local winner at each store as well as a national winner. The national prize is a nike driver of your choice valued at up to $399.”
Per a Golfsmith ecommerce department staff member, they plan to use this initial test to gauge the need/possiblity for more such Facebook exclusive events.

Sixty percent of Americans interact with companies on a social media Web site, and one in four interacts more than once per week. These findings are from the 2008 Cone Business in Social Media Study. Ninety-three percent of Americans believe a company should have a presence in social media; 85% believe a company should not only be present but also interact with its consumers via social media.”
